Questions on TAX - Qualified JOB expenses?

My friend has a fulltime job (nurse) and a part-time job (computer tech) with another company. So she has 2 W2 forms from those jobs (2007). She travelled from the hospital to her 2nd job everyday and she also bought books and computer for her part time job. Question is.. can she include the computer books, laptop she bought as a computer technician and can she deduct the travel mileage from 1st job to 2nd job? If yes, where in Schedule A can she put that job expenses deduction? Does she need to have 2 separate Schedule A for the 2 jobs? Is there a limit on job expenses she can deduct, is it subject to 2%of AGI?

Assuming that both jobs are as employee (W2, rather than 1099), she can claim the mileage between the two jobs, as well as employment related expenses, but the total employment related expenses less 2% of "Adjusted Gross Income" becomes an itemized deduction, and it still helps only if the total itemized deductions exceed the standard deduction, which may not be the case.

The books are quite probably deductible, although they theoretically should be depreciated. The computer is only fully deductible if used ONLY for work or if required by the employer (being required to do the work is not adequate.) Otherwise, the work-related portion of the computer purchase can be depreciated over 5 years if used over 50% for work, and 12 years if not.

There is a 2% floor to deduct un reimbursed employee expenses and I am assuming that you would not be able to cross that with those expenses. Also you would not be able to deduct the mileage and the computer would be an aggressive deduction assuming that is her only computer and I am sure she uses it for personal reasons.

Commuting mileage is not deductible but mileage between 2 jobs is. If it takes 20 minutes to go between jobs and you have a 3 hour time in between that is not going between jobs if you go shopping or something first.
