Has anyone ever gone on a medical mission to Haiti?

I have been offered a chance to go along with a doctor on a medical mission to Haiti and am not sure what to expect. Everything from the expenses involved to the cost of getting there. Are there places who would help with the cost of travel if you wanted to go? I am a registered nurse and would love to have a chance to donate some of my services.

I've lived there...As far as getting, there, it depends where you're going. If you're going to the south, fly American Airlines. If you're going to the north, Cap Haitien, there's a missionary flight (4-seater plane) that leaves out of Florida (see link)..Cost of food there, which will usually be native food (rice and beans, plantain, sweet potatoes, avocado) is relatively cheap.

What to expect? Well, being overwhelmed by the poverty, the dirt, the stench, and the horrible diseases you'll encounter, along with friendly people. Expect to work a never-ending day with people lined up for miles (unless you're in a city hospital), poor sanitation, few drugs.
