Question about working for the Red Cross? |
I am a nursing student in Indiana and I've always had a passion for traveling, especially in Africa. For over a year now I've been interested in doing Red Cross work after I graduate. Is it all volunteer? Are nurses paid well? How does the Peace Corp work? Red Cross employees are paid. Peace Corps pays a stipend. It is true SOME Red Cross employees are paid but some nurses also volunteer. For blood services many are paid but for disaster response most are not. Red Cross will require any employee or volunteer to attend classes for training. You need to call your local Red Cross and ask for the director of health services for more information. I am not familiar with Peace Corps. You need to contact www.redcross.org and have them give you the positions and the pay scale that they offer. This you should also do when you contact www.peacecorps.com - I know that you will do well. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Peace, Love and God Bless. There are few paid positions are the Red Cross, this is a volunteer agency. Check with your local chapter for paid positions. If you would like to work in Africa, look into education forgiveness possibilities, such as with Peace-corp or another international agency, but remember, this type of work normally is done with the stipend not a salary. |
