Corporate Lunch Delivery Business. Your Opinion? |
I am planning to start a delivery only restaurant that serves local businesses who are too busy to go out to lunch and tired of fast food. Hospital nursing staffs, doctor's offices, office buildings, etc. Most people only get 30-60 minutes for lunch and by the time you travel to and from the restaurant you're lunch hour is gone. So I will provide restaurant quality offerings at very reasonable prices, delivered! I am looking for any and all suggestions/comments/criticisms. Anything from the name, to marketing ideas, etc. I am especially interested in info on where to get used restaurant equipment cheap and also in speaking to anyone who has run a small restaurant before. Just so you know I haven't come up with a name for the business yet. Corporate Lunch delivery is the topic of the question, and not the name. LOL. This may not be the best idea you have ever had....Sorry to be so blunt, but this may end up costing you a lot of money and hard work. The IDEA is great, the functionality and practicality is not so good. My biggest problem I see is, your window is going to be very short, everyone eats lunch, around the same time, being liberal say it's 11-1:30. You have a two and a half hour window, are you serving hot dishes that are pre-prepared? How are you going to keep this hot? What if you get 100 orders in a day and the all want it between 11:30 and 12:30, you now have one hour to deliver 100 orders to different locations.....How many deliver drivers would that take? Another issue I see that could arise, you will have to hire drivers, assuming you would be hiring these people to be drivers to also be food preparers? How many people would you have to hire? Hypothetical situation, opening day, you have marketed the hell out of this place and say I call and order my lunch, and I can only eat from 11:30 to noon. I want it there at 11:30 and I am 16 blocks from you. And so do 18 other people in the city in all different offices. Word of mouth travels fast, it only takes a few people from the same office having a bad experience with your delivery service before no one from there is ordering from you. In order to turn a profit in such a small window to conduct business your price point would have to be so off the charts, no one would order from you anyway. Like I said, I think the IDEA is great, but it's not very practical. If this is something you are dead set on doing, if you are in a major metropolitan area, maybe consider starting something along the lines of a deli, but maybe a little more niche. Good luck!! It is a great idea. The name is Corporate Lunch Delivery? Well, sleep on that. Living in New York for some time, city and the Long Island Suburb's, this idea has worked well. In the city, more like deli service and runners or pick up for the whole office. In the suburbs my friends dad owned many small refrigerated trucks and made the sandwiches and filled up with drinks and other stuff, and he and the other drivers went off to the offices one after the other where many folks would work. All I can say about this Guy, was I never forgot that elaborate house. He was doing something he loved and got paid well to do it. It's A Great Idea. Market it online...do you have a friend or some skills to do this too? that way people can order in lets say 24 hours ahead if that is your online rules, a VIP service that you can charge for. Let me know how it comes out, I am very interested in your success. |
