I have an elderly neighbor who needs a blood pressure cuff.?

She needs to check her blood pressure several times a week. She is not eligible for free home nursing just for this. She travels to the local drugstore to get her pressure done for free. But she's 90 years old. It would be nice if she could just take it at home. The cuffs are exensive and medicare won't pay. Any ideas on where she can get one for free or for a nominal fee?

try this. Since YOU are the one with a computer - go to http://www.freecycle.org.
You'll need to "Join" the area where you live but it is a site where you can get things for free. And you join for free too. There are no dues to pay. They do however take donations (for that matter so will I - write for my address lol!) but I have NEVER given anything and no one has ever asked me for anything.
If you need to give something away first - just get something that you don't want or use anymore - or get something from a yard sale - and offer it.

Ask the pharmasist if he knows where she can get a donated cuff. One of our local pharmasys keeps things like that and wheelchairs.....walkers....things that elderly people can't afford to buy. Or contact the senior center and see if they can help. Good Luck !!!

Hi - I use to work for an assisted living company; you can call around to see if any of them have any for donation. Or you can call your local drugstore to see if they are willing to donate one (same goes for local hospital). Sometimes it's hard to get anyone that will donate one because of legal reasons (if the cuff is broken and she decides to sue because it took a wrong reading, etc).

Those are probably the best bet - or you can try Craigslist as well.

Blood pressure cuffs are about 20 dollars on ebay. That is not expensive.
