Why do mothers allow kids to travel unrestrained whilst they wear their seatbelts. Does this upset anyone else

Every day I see mothers with kids on their laps, or jumping around without proper restraints, and I get really mad! Why do mothers still do this? Are they not aware of what can happen to an unrestrained child in a crash. I was in a crash a couple of years ago, where my friend put the restraint for her baby in the house so that an extra friend could come shopping. I protested, but it was no good. She had nursed her daughter before, and I had talked to her about it, but she still did it. I showed her footage of what can happen, but she still nursed her kid in the car!!! Her daughter died that day when the driver tried to find her cigarettes, and slammed into the back of a car at the lights. I can still see my friend and her baby slamming into the dash and windscreen. My friend survived, her baby didn't. I wish mothers with unrestrained kids knew this, or could speak to my friend so they know what can happen without having to got through it themselves. What do you all think???

That's the height of irresponsibility, and bad judgement.
I've rarely seen this with kids, but often see dogs 'driving' on owners' laps. That upsets me a lot, because not only are the drivers distracted and more likely to cause a collision, but the unrestrained pets are very likely to get killed.
Doing this with children takes this to a whole new level, and I'm SO mad at your friend right now. But if I wanted to be sarcastic, I would say she totally deserved that for her stupidity, and it's natural selection. This is serious though, as the baby is dead, and the baby didn't deserve it at all. In my car, even the dog has her seat belt on!

the airbag will save them.

You see it every day. People who have spoiled their kids and cannot control them. If they put the spoiled little brat in a child seat, they will scream bloody murder until the mom spoils them again by removing them.

Simple answer: they would rather risk a ticket than listen to their brat scream.
