What kind of a friend are you?

My best friend is a single mom and her x lives out of state. She asked me to babysit her two sick boys who were vomiting all day and running a fever. The thing is, she is a travel nurse and works two hours away from home. If I watch the kids for her, she would stay in a hotel and work the next day as well. But I have 4 kids of my own and am worried that they would get sick and then I would have to clean up the vomit for 6 kids and maybe even myself. She makes a ton of money ($6000/mo), so it would not be that bad for her to miss a couple days of work. Would a real friend say yes and risk getting their own kids sick, or do you think she was asking too much?

It is true that I said I couldn't do it, I just want to know what other people think of the situation. We are best friends, and the reason she feels she can ask a lot from me, is because she is a very giving person. She would bend over backwards to help me. In fact she did just last month.

well you did what you felt was right at that time if the kids are indeed sick then she should know best for shes a nurse. but then why you have this guilt feeling? because you think you could have done much more right? so in your case your tells you have done the right thing but your heart says otherwise.

Family first. I would say "any other time, but I have to be concerned with my 4 children's health."
She is using you if she really wants you to do this.
Who wouldn't want to provide care for their own children while they are sick?

Did she find out the reason for her children to be sick/vomit? Your children may not get sick if the sickness is not contagious but it is difficult for you to watch over 6 children while 2 of them are already sick! Perhaps your friend should take care of her children before she travels to other places to take care of other sick people!

I read your need its a picle ur in i would not have the enrgy to do what ur going thru.Ask for more money n leave ur kids at another place when hers or sick.A lot more money so another sitter can help you,double it!she is lucky to hae you.

If she makes as much money as you say she does I'm sure a couple of days off from work is not going to hurt her pocket.Besides I have kids of my own and everytime one of them was sick it was my duty to stay home and look after them.kids need their mum when they are sick.
