Does the United States require a Basic Travel Allowance for those entering from Nigeria?

My Fiance' is a traveling nurse, who ended up in Nigeria. Now in order to leave they are telling her she need to produce a Basic Travel Allowance.

I hope this somehow helps: http://216.109.125.130/search/cache?p=Ni...

I could be totally off on but I think this is what's happening.

What I suspect it is is that since your Fiance is leaving Nigeria, they want to make sure that if she chooses to come back, she's not screwed in paying immediate debts. Like if you were to go to lets say China and come back to the U.S. with nothing in your pocket, how would you get home from the airport? You'd have to pay to get your car of the airport parking lot or a taxi to take you home. You'd have to tip the taxi guy. If you are hungry you have to stop and get something to it. If you're home is miles away from the airport you have to pay for gas, etc, etc, etc. This can all be solved if you just had some back up money to begin with.

The question is, does she need her allowance to be for the country she is coming home to, or the country she is leaving. Is it Nigeria that wants to have an allowance in case she decides to come back, or is it America that wants her to have an allowance before she gets here?

That's probably the Nigerian's way of saying "give me money or you don't fly anywhere".

I've never heard of a basic travel allowance to enter the US. Sounds like a shakedown to me.

A travel allowance is what I think this site means on the dot with using those words. Check it out oh yeah and I think every country needs one to maske sure you have money to spend when you visit.
