Can anything be done or is it too late to add to the police report?

Several years ago, I came home from work on my lunch break and found that my ex husband was drunk in the middle of the day (he was unemployed at the time) and our 7 week old daughter was in her crib with a dirty diaper, crying, being ignored. I called my boss and told her I would not be in and started bathing my daughter and getting a bag packed to go to my mother's house. My ex husband got angry with me for "taking his baby" and started screaming at me. He wound up getting violent and pushing me into a wall, then punching me, giving me a concussion and blacking my eye. I managed to get a hold of his cell phone and call 911 and they responded pretty quickly. On the 911 call tape, you can clearly hear him in the background threatening to put my daughter in foster care.
He met the police in the driveway before they came in the house and told them that the altercation was because I wanted to have sex with him (not true) they came in, smirking, and asked me about it. (continued)

I felt very uncomfortable with some of the things they asked, but they did eventually arrest him. They acted like they didn't believe my side of the story- the baby had already been bathed when they got there and her crib sheets were in the washer- I had no real way to prove that she had been as dirty as she was.
It has recently come to my attention that MY version of what happened- him being drunk-baby being neglected- was not put into the final police report- the story told in the police report is that I was angry about him not wanting to have sex with me. I don't feel this is fair- Now, there is a paper document stating this garbage and it's embarrassing to me because it's not true.

It only came to my attention now, 4 years later, because we are having some issues with him stalking and harassing me- I got a finalized copy of the police report to give my lawyer and saw what was in it, then.

I realize that I can't change the record completely, but is there anyway to add my side?

Unfortunately the time to read and correct the police report would have been 4 years ago when this all happened. If you thought it would be hard to prove anything then, it would be pretty much impossible now. I feel terribly for your current circumstance and encourage you to take whatever opportunities to clear the air at this stage. The fact that he was prevoiusly been arrested for assaulting you will help you in your current action... It really stinks though that the police were so chauvenistic to file an incomplete and slanted report.

I don't know about the time frame, but I do know that supplemental reports can be filed to original reports. I find it typical for cops to take the man's side and treat the woman like crap.

file a new report

nope, you cant do nothing. it was 7 years ago. if it were in the same year than you could have a case. why didnt you press chargers on him after he gave you a concussion and black eye. the police didnt ask you why you had a black eye? no offense but your dumb. you should of told the police he hit you and cops would of beaten his ***. you prlly could of even got your baby back for him being drunk and violent

wow im so sorry

I should get legal aid, and ask to see the original report who filed it and on what evidence. If your side of the story was not recorded why not. Its up to the police to make accurate reports, not their own interpretation and summation's
