It's got no owner. It can't be taken to a vet? |
Warning, difficult pictures: I forgot to say he says the cat eats and drinks and that he is doing fine, like it seems the wound is on the skin only. Also, this happened over the course of........3-4 days? How can this happen in such a short period of time? He says the wound has pus and it is infested. Cage the cat. Check it for a collar still in the wound. clean it with lots of warm sterile water until the things are gone. If the collar is on, cut the bottom and try gently to remove it. Cover the wound with a antibiotic cream and don't let him lick it off for 20 minutes. If he insists on washing it off gently wipe off the excess so he doesn't eat to much. Get him some vitamins and feed him a little raw liver. Do this until he heals. If you could not get the collar off try again in 24 hours. Some times when the pressure is released the body will try to push it off. If it doesn't come off find a cat lover around you somewhere and see if you can get him help. If you really want to help talk to everybody you can some place some where there is some body who cares. This cat need imediate medical attention. It looks as though there are maggots in the wound. It might have been caused by a collar that has been out grown. The collar could still be on him. If you take the cat to a vet or a vetinary hospital, and explain the situation ( that it is not your cat, but needs help), they should help the cat for free. This injury is too far gone to be treated with just over-the-counter antibiotic ointment. As far as stressing the cat out at the vet.... nothing could be more stressfull than this injury. The cat would welcome the medical attention. Good luck. he can take it to a vet and tell him that it isn't his but he has been feeding it. it is called a good Samaritan. they will take it and treat it and then it will be put up for adoption if it survives. he won't get it back but it will be treated. If he doesn't want the cat, and cannot afford a visit to the vet, then he should take it to his local animal shelter. it looks like an irritation from something the animal was wearing - it definitely needs a professional medical opinion, if he explains to the vet he found it and wants to help it, I am sure they can work something out. I don't like the looks of it at all. Jesus Mary and Joseph! Fear of stressing the cat is absolute BS. Like that cat isn't stressed already! That cat has to be miserable, he needs to really just put it into a box and take it to a vet or some kind of animal service place. take the cat 2 an animal shelter? they would sort it all out and look after him/her & would possibly find em a new home If you can look into the cats ears to see if they looks dirty then that would help a lot. If the cat looks as though there are coffee grounds in the ear then it would be earmites. When a cat has earmites they will take their back leg and hit the back of the ear which can cause wounds and the base of the ear. I have not seen it this bad but its possible that the wound is self inflicted. Check out the ears and let us know! If it is earmites then You can get meds other than the vet to treat them. As long as the wound is kept clean and debris free it should heal on its own. It its warm outside however you will have a problem with maggots and will need to keep the cat indoors. Hope this helps! Tell your friend to take that cat to a vet or animal clinic, and tell them he/she found it, and didn't know what to do because it was in bad shape..............I do not think a vet would turn the animal away, I am sure they would help it. Even if they had to put it to sleep I am sure it would be better off than suffering like it is now. Hi, I'm studying to be a nurse and I love animals. Pls. call a compassionate Animal Rescue NO-KILL shelter/sanctuary or society, they may send a volunteer out to assist and even place cat. I don't know your friend's location in Israel, but ask him if he's contacted The Cat Welfare Society of Israel; He needs to take it to a vet.It loooks to me like it may be caused by the cat scratching itself.Does it have fleas? It also may have gotten an injury there and is scratching at it.Please tell him that the cat probably just needs antibiotics and to have the wound cleaned up.It really shouldn't cost that much, and if he doesn't take it,then it may die.In the meantime, can he keep it inside,so it doesn't fight or get the wound dirty? He could clean it with peroxide ( diluted with water) dry it and apply a triple antibiotic ointment. If the cat is "nobody's",then why doesn't he keep it or take it to a shelter where it would recieve proper care? He can't just let it suffer. It probably needs to be neutered as well,if it's a male. Why is the cat outside like that for one!! it looks like u could take it to the pound, they might fix it or put it out of its missery, i wish poeple were nicer to animals they are cute to! shoot it put it out of its misury bring the animal to a second change shelter, they dont put them to sleep there |
