Is it infected?

My son scraped his finger pretty bad last week and it seemed to be healing properly but suddenly, yesterday, while at preschool they said a giant blister came up right beside the wound and now it's red, swollen and feels warm around the scab again. I'm not sure if I need to take him to an urgent care clinic today or wait to see his pediatrician on Monday.

It's infected, go to an emergency room NOW. It could be MRSA!

These are classic symptoms, first a cut or abrasion that seems to be healing fine. Then, red, swollen and warm as the MRSA infection grows.

DO NOT USE ANY ANTI-BACTERIAL PRODUCTS CONTAINING TRICLOSAN. Triclosan has been shown to increase MRSA resistance to anti-biotics. Basically, it kills only the weakest bacteria and leaves the strongest behind that cannot be killed by triclosan.

i think it's infected. see a doctor.

Heat and redness are signs of infection. Bring him in. Better safe than sorry in cases like these...

You may want to take him in to Urgent Care. MRSA has become so wide spread these days and one of the signs of infection is a blister or pimple. I don't mean to scare you, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

I'd go to a drop in clinic if you have one handy, its probably overkill for A&E but I'd definitely get it checked out
