So what excactly is the Faith Based Community Incentive, and who does it help, and who can't apply?

did you know this has roots in texas, as CARE, and it took 5 executive orders and current opposition to get some of it in place, still "unconstitutional" and still only promotes a certain "faith", not other religions or variants of thier own religion they consider a cult?
is it ironic that Pat Robertson was first recipient of 1/2 million for Operation Blessing, or others who contributed to either 2000 or 2004 campaigns were among first to be awarded? Philadelphia Church That Endorsed Bush Gets $1 Million 'Faith-Based' Grant
Wednesday June 23, 2004

"The Rev. Lusk endorsed candidate Bush, and wound up getting a $1-million faith-based grant from the Bush administration," [Barry] Lynn said. "Now there's a heavenly payoff."

Texas, however, under the leadership of Gov. George W. Bush, saw the change in the law as something to embrace.

Bush quickly created a 16-member Governor's Advisory Task Force on Faith-Based Community Service Groups composed largely of individuals who shared Bush's religious and political views which prepared a report calling for a church-state partnership in the Lone Star State. Bush subsequently issued an executive order directing state agencies to work with houses of worship to provide social services while allowing them to maintain their "unique ecclesiastical nature."

Five years after Bush's gubernatorial administration implemented sweeping policies on uniting state agencies and faith-based charities, the Texas Freedom Network is reporting on the results of the experiment. According to the statewide, non-profit educational group, the policies have been an abject failure.

It is horrible that this has been created as a Christian's only club. The basic idea itself isn't unconstitutional since the first amendment guarantees the free practice of religion. Not having this program at all is just as unconstitutional as it being a Christian's only club; the reason I say this is that Atheism is technically a religion, by forbidding assistance to Religion based charities and not to "Nonreligious" charities the Government is making atheism the state religion. It's the same thing with denying the 10 commandments at court houses (I myself would love to see the Nine Noble Virtues and Wiccan Rede, or any similar codes of life right next to them), refusing Christians to hold Bible study in Libraries or at schools, these are public places and atheists have no right to dictate their religion of disbelief on the rest of us. By the way I am Pagan and Proud of it, and I have no problem with any religion in general (I do get upset with people who claim a religion and don't know squat about it, like all those people who run around condemning everyone else), proselytizing doesnt bother me at all, there are plenty of people who need "saved" not from any mythical mighty devil but from themselves.

I think if a religious organization rakes in a lot of money their should be a cut off and let the grants go to those charities that lack funds.

They are in it strictly for the money!!!!!!!!!!
