P.S. it didnt have a rabies shot yet....

Chances are your puppy doesn't have rabies. He's only 3 months old. Biting is very common at this age. its b/c he's teething. the best way to get them to understand that biting is not ok is by positive reinforcement. What worked for my dog is whenever he bite us or chewed on something we would tell him no in a stern voice and then gave him a toy/played with him and the toy. It helps them to understand that they should bite the toy and not anything else. It may take awhile for them to understand since he is young. But repeating it will help.

As for rabies heres alittle info to help you out in calming yourself down. There are 2 types of clinical signs for rabies. 1 is furious form, biting, high aggresion, attacking. and vocaliztion. and 2 which is dumb form, they are withdrawn and almost like a zombie. Rabies is transmitted by saliva.

No your dog does not have rabies.....Puppies tend to be mouthy...don't worry you will be fine....your puppy is just being a puppy....he'll get over it.

DUH!!! IT DOES NOT HAVE RABIES!!!

It doesn't have rabies... Your puppy is teething, it needs something to knaw its new teeth on.

no its not if you foundet maybe but if you buy it no its small no

He has 'mad puppy disease'! you better get yourself into quarantine now....go go go

When a PUPPY bites you, give it a tap on the nose (just enough to make it look at you like "wtf? did you seriously just touch me?" not enough to hurt it) and say "NO BITE!" eventually it will learn.

First, RELAX!

If your puppy had it's shot for Rabies you have nothing to worry about. But I do believe they cannot get thier first Rabies shot until 5-6 months.

You would know if your dog had Rabies. Believe me. Has your dog been bitten by another animal? Ex-a skunk, raccoon? If not, then you're fine.

puppies bite alot when they are 3 months get him some toys to chew on hes teething and no im sure you dont have rabies chill

It is not your fault the puppy bit you (unless you teased it) so you should not be afraid to tell your Mom. I think that puppy's are given first shots in the first few days but I do not know if rabies shots are part of it. Perhaps the puppy gets some immunity from the mothers milk until the time that the Vet is to give the shot. The answer is at the Vet and your Mother can find out the answer. You probably have nothing to worry about. You did the right thing to keep out infection by washing with soap and applying alcohol.

Puppies bite, you have to teach them not to. The puppy does not have rabies. They are not born with rabies, they would contract rabies through a rabid animal like a racoon. I doubt that your 12 week old puppy has been scrapping with a rabid racoon, relax. You are fine.

Don't hit the puppy tho, like someone suggested. It's a bad idea to go around hitting puppies.

No, not if you gave him all his shots and kept them up to date. He was probably just playing or getting where he's teething, but you should tell him NO when he does this so he will learn and get him a toy or something to chew on, he's only 3months give him time he'll get out of it.

First of all honey, tell your mom. She needs to know because you may need medical treatment. I just got bite by a young puppy-entirely my fault, I was demonstrating the cue for "sit" with my hand and the pup jumped up and my hand came down and the pups tooth punctured my finger deeply. I had to be careful about germs and infection.

Secondly, puppies use their mouth like you and I use our hands. They are puppies! There are many reasons whey they might bite, they are teething, they want to play, they want attention or interaction, or they are greeting you. This doesn't make it okay for your dog to bite!

When your puppy bites, you can give your pup a chew toy, or re-direct your puppy like throwing a ball or something. Never continue playing with your pup when they bite! You need to let your pup know it hurts by saying "ouch, that hurt me!" Stop all interaction and attention when your puppy bites.

I would not be as concerned about rabies as I would infection at this point! But please let your mom know and give her this information if she doesn't understand puppies. Make sure you do get your puppy in for its rabies vaccination at 6 months.

Uhh No Lol Puppies often play bite and if it was a aggressive bite then you sould consider Telling someone

I'd be less concerned about rabies and much more concerned about teaching your puppy bite inhibition. The clock is ticking on being able to fix that behavior. Never punish your pup for biting - just YIPE! as loudly as you can and leave the room. Do not grab at the dog in any way - do not scold, do not hit him. Trying to get physical to punish your puppy will make the problem much worse.
Please let your dog play with as many other friendly dogs as you can. Please introduce your dog to as many friendly people as you can as soon as you can. If this were my dog, this would be the only way that he'd get fed - by all of the nice strangers that he's meeting every day.

Your fine! Puppies do that.... the pup will eventually learn but they get excited and want to chew and play and you just happen to be sittin right there. Put a little neosporin and a band aide and it will heal quick.

More of a problem is why the dog bit you. If you are doing something with/to the dog to cause it to bite so hard (assuming it wasn't just playing and got too wound up) you will have bigger problems as the dog gets older. If you were playing with the dog and it bit you, you can teach it what is called 'bite inhibition'. Puppies teach each other when a bite is too hard. They yelp and stop the game. Dogs learn that if they bite too hard the fun stops.
