How to avoid a scar after a blister burn?

This morning while cooking, i got burned by some extremely hot steam, I didnt think anything of it, but now i have a small blister with some red spots around on my skin, how can i care for this blister so that as it heals I dont wound up with a mark or scar on my skin?

You will have a scar now. The best way to prevent the blister from occuring in the first place is right after you get burnt you put a cold compress on the burnt spot and that will draw the heat away from the skin not causing a blister but now that you waited I suggest you wash the area with warm water and antibacterial soap during the day everyday and at night before going to bed apply either vitamin E oil or aloe vera gel and that will greatly minimize the occurence of a scar.

I burnt my arm on the cooker while getting my pizza out in 2006, the mark is still there,

I did the same on my other arm, just above the wrist and that scar is they lol they are identicul,

+ i dont think you cant? if you could i would prob say bathe it in cold water :P GL!

because it is a burn you will get a scar but u can use A and D Oniment

this sounds kinda stupid but use over the counter sprays and ointments. Ask the pharmesist which is best

To take care of your burn do this;

-depending on how bad the burn is, you can either rap it in a non stick ace bandage or a regular band aid as long as it wont touch the blister.

- To make sure it won't scar, be very veryyyy careful with it, do not let anything touch it don't lift up your bandage to look at it and avoid dirty situations where it can be irritated.

-For the skin, (after the blister disappears) I recommend neosporin it will prevent infection and speed up your recovery.

Hope this helps :-)

*It will take one week or more depending on how deep the burn goes
** Cold water and other liquids will only irritate deepen and make the burn worse, but ice wont hurt

aloe vera gel. you may have a scar but it won't be as bad. i used the plant but you can buy it in a bottle

Try applying a paste on you burn made out of baking soda and water, it sounds a little strange but believe me it works.

This is going to hurt. But, it does get rid of blisters and can prevent them sometimes right after a burn. Rinse your burn area in warm tap water. YES, it's going to hurt. The heat will spread the heat in the burn out and prevent a blister, the area will be red, and sore for a time, but you should be able to avoid a bad blister.

You can get gel burn patches at any pharmacy. They work great and it make it feel SO much better. I had a second degree burn over half of my arm and there is no scar at all because I took care of it. I spilled boiling water on it taking a pan of ribs and greasy water sloshed over the edge of the pan.

You will end up with some sort of mark, no matter what you do. However, with proper wound care you can lessen the degree of scarring, and given time, it can fade entirely. I had a burn on my leg that blistered, about 3.5 months ago, and you cannot tell where it was.
Proper care:
-do not put butter, vinegar, any home remedies on the burn
-do not break the blister
-cover it with non-stick gauze, enough that the entire burn is covered
-tape the gauze to the healthy skin around the burn
-leave the gauze on all day
-remove it at night so the burn can "air out"
-if any signs of infection develop, go to the doctor ASAP (red lines extending away from the wound, pus, heat, more pain than there should be).
-once it heals completely, no more scabs or flaky skin or anything like that: if the scar is just a flat colored patch, it will fade on its own and within a few months you won't be able to see it. If there are any bumps or raised portions, it's going to become permanent, but will still fade.

cold water is the best/only first aid when you burn yourself - 20 minutes under the tap and no less. NEVER ice OR vinegar OR milk OR butter OR green tea OR mustard OR toothpaste OR sunscreen OR semen OR vaseline OR tomatoes OR vanilla extract OR yogurt OR sour cream OR egg white OR egg yellow OR lavender oil OR cocoa butter OR salt OR tea bags OR potato OR shaving cream OR olive oil OR baking soda OR banana peel OR petroleum jelly OR whipped cream OR avocado OR bacon grease OR corn starch OR turmeric OR lemon juice OR curd OR pickle juice OR saffron OR honey OR soy sauce OR urine OR talcum powder OR mashed strawberries OR exfoliating scrub OR mayonnaise OR peroxide OR bleach OR deep heat OR ketchup OR red grapes OR hairspray OR WD-40 OR flour OR pancake syrup- not until the skin is fully healed!

ibuprofen or aspirin will help but large burns are often accompanied by stomach ulcers, so tylenol/panadol is best for pain if you are gonna tough it out. drink plenty of water or energy drinks that don't have caffeine (Gatorade)

I would advise that you cover the burnt area with white soft paraffin (white petroleum) or aqueous cream bp. (check the links below and see if you can find a local equivalent). wash the burn and reapply every 4-6 hours - cover with cling wrap if you wish to cover with clothes - this will stop your clothes getting covered with paraffin and maintains the burn. cling wrap alone is also ok if you can't get hold of any paraffin. it acts as a protective artificial skin - helping retain moisture and protect from further damage and pain.

aloe is good coz it remoisturises but that moisture can be quickly lost as the skin can't contain fluids. so put aloe on, and then the paraffin on over the top. if there is broken skin leave out the aloe - just paraffin.

finally if you are really worried go to a hospital that has a burns unit or plastic surgeons. serious sunburn i.e. blisters (and all other burns) should be seen by a burns trained doctor or nurse.
