You who preach tolerance?

that is not the kind of Love Jesus was talking about .....he was not tolerant of sin. Even the woman caught in Adultery, he let her have a moment of fear and said "neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more". If we are following Jesus' example we aren't going to play patty cake with sin and be all tolerant. God's love is not a Hallmark Card. He says to HATE what is evil and Cling to what is good. Hate is a very strong word. We are too find what is good in a person and cling to that and pray for them but sin is not okay.......and the people who think they are tolerant are intolerant. Those who say oh "your kids should not have to go to church you are brainwashing them" are the same people making everyone buy different light bulbs because THEY decided they all have to be energy efficient. The people who think they should interfere in every jot and tittle of a person raising children, winds up sending them to foster care homes that are often worse then their own. Man fails in his wisdom

My sweet sister in Christ, I hear your frustration, and I can feel your pain.
But I do think you, and I, and all of us who have called ourselves by His Name need to look long and hard at ourselves, before we talk about "sin" so freely. Jesus did mention something, once, about not being able to see clearly to remove the splinter from someone else's eye, due to the beam in our own.
The woman caught in adultery is an excellent example. The men who dragged her to Jesus (and where was the man??) weren't concerned about seeing her justly punished for her sin...they were looking for Jesus to make an illegal judgment call.
If He said, "Do not stone her, let her go," He would be in clear violation of the law of Moses...
On the other hand, if He had said, "You are right, she is guilty, stone her as Moses directed," He would be guilty of insurrection against the Roman government...only the Romans had the power to condemn a person...even a woman taken in adultery...to death.
Either way, they would have enough evidence to drag Him before the authorities...either the Sanhedrin, or, even better, the Procurator...and have Him tried.
The hearts of those men in t he crowd that day were not right with God...
We need to remember that, before we go throwing stones at anyone else. Not one of us can claim to be without sin...not one of us meets His criteria for stone-throwing.

As for the woman, herself, a great many people seem to think that Jesus was issuing her a warning.
"You'd better not sin any more, or My Dad will gitcha"....
No, what He WAS doing is what ANY good parent does, when our child wanders too close to danger...
When your little one wanders too near the stove, do you say "Get away from that stove, or I'm gonna come over there and burn you!"
OF COURSE NOT!!
No, we say "Momma doesn't want you to play near the stove, because I don't want you to hurt yourself."

As a wiser heart than mine has put it...
"We are "fishers of men"...we catch 'em...God cleans 'em."

(I never could stand to clean fish....)

"HE" did not say anything. What you are reading was written 30 to 120 years after he died and it was made up by people who were not even born at the time, for political reasons to consolodate and empire.

See, when you hate something, hate takes over. It's like the saying "hate the sin but love the sinner". This is an impossibility, human beings being what they are. When you hate something about a person, you begin to lose respect for them, and the hate begins to seep over into other areas, and pretty soon you hate the whole person.

That is the nature of hate, that is what it does. Hate only feeds sin, it doesn't cure it. To cure sin, you have to turn from it without hating it, without loving it, without giving it any energy at all. Sin feeds on energy, whether you love the sin or hate it, it will feed on both emotions -- but hatred especially makes it stronger. Hatred contaminates everything it touches.

So don't hate.

And yet you fail in reading the Community Guidelines for Yahoo Answers, particularly when it comes to "soap box" posts.

he also said love your neighbour ... and that is exactly what I do
and I believe along with being tolerant and respectful to each other , saving this planet is the most important thing we could be doing at the moment
I would not tell anyone how to raise their children however ... unless I had reason to believe they were being mistreated

I don't preach nor can I stand wannabe preachers. Here's why:

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are." --Matthew 23:15

Peace be with you.
