What do you do when you are in a serious rut, BUT don't care?

Ok, I have answered the question a dozen times here about what to do when you are in a rut. I have answered the question of what you do when you don't care. But, what if you are in a rut and just don't care?

I know every one pulls the depression tag, because obviously if you aren't running around with wind breezing about you, glad to be on the oh so precious planet, well then you must be really sad or dumb. Well, I don't buy that! I think short term sadness and temporary melancholy are natural! It's the way of the human mind.

I really, really enjoy my life when I am alone! After work at home, working on projects makes me delighted. But the second I have to interact with other humans and see how horrible, mindless, careless, and wasteful they are I get into that whole, in a rut, don't give a crap mode...

I have thought of working at home, but right now, that is NOT an option. So, for those of you out there who get this feeling like me, what do you do to quelch your ruttiness?

Who you are amounts to the moment you are living in. One questionable decision and you've changed who you supposeably are....

This doesn't exactly sound like a rut to me, but a natural inclination toward introversion. There is nothing inherently wrong with this frame of mind.

It might be a matter of definition. You indicate that you prefer solitude, and solo projects are a delight for you. If you were not getting any enjoyment from your hobbies or home-based work, THEN I would say you are in a rut. However, that does not seem the case.

We do live in a society that places emphasis on extroversion, where it is "abnormal" for someone to not enjoy the company of others. Taken to an unnatural extent, this would be cause for concern. In that case though, I would suspect that you be in a remote cabin or a sterile room. :-)

From my perspective, you are perfectly fine. That you recognise that you do not want anything different is actually a good thing. My advice is to maintain a professional distance with your co-workers and simply be alone.

first find out who you are... then go on from there
