How do I take care of this (hole in foot)?

I stepped on a stick 5 days ago. It put a hole in my foot, and I may have splinters in it but I don't know. It hurts to do anything to it, and I do not want to go to a dr. What is the best way to take care of this wound on my foot at home. I have 2 pics included one is from yesterday and 1 from today. Thanks for any help http://img530.imageshack.us/my.php?image...

Unfortunately,if you suspect splinters, then you should probably go see a doctor to make certain. You also might need a tetanus shot if you haven't had one within the last 10 years. If you have someone else who can take a look at it, have them clean it really well with some running water and then some hydrogen peroxide or iodine. It doesn't look bad enough to require stitches, so either some steri strips to close it and/or a bandage to cover it. If it starts to swell, get inflammed or hurt really bad, then get yourself to a doctor right away. Don't waste time, infection can lead to blood poisoning or gangrene, which could ultimately lead to amputation of your foot.

The best thing to do is to keep the wound clean and give it a few days to heal . if it does not heal see a doctor for advice

By all means, go to the doctor. It does look infected for sure. You should have a physician look at further. If it is infected&left untreated, it can dangerous. I stepped on a nail once&needed to have a tetanus shot. Plus, oral anti-biotics. Good luck.

If it's not infected now it soon will be. Go to the doctor before you end up spending days in the hospital instead of just a few hours. It would be a shame to lose your foot because you didn't want to see a doctor.

I would go to see a doctor because it could get infected and you don't want that to happen. Because you would have to get surgey.
