I have swelling in my leg and a little puss comes out from the wound...what should i do!!???

I fell off my bike and onto gravel and scraped off the skin of the knee... What should i do, leave the wound overnight to heal or bandaid it? I have to go to work tomorow... and i work at timhortons(coffee shop) on friday night. Would the swelling subside by then? Whats the best way to take care of the wound? Thanks for all the advice in advance.

Well it doesn't sound too bad. I'd put some peroxide on it, or get some polysporin and put a bandaid on it. That should do the trick.

Of course if the swelling doesn't go away, and it looks worse and or hurts a lot more, get it checked out.

I LOVE Tim Horton's coffee by the way!

Get better! :)

go to a doctor, duh

go to the doctor.

Antibiotic ointment and a bandaid.

It sounds like an infection, go to the Dr.

Clean and use triple antibiotic with gauze. This will let air in. 3 things you should always have on hand. Triple antibiotic, gauze and tape.

nothing wrong with a little puss

ew call up that doc. !

First thing is to wash it well with soapy water. Dry and put some antibiotic cream and a bandage on it. That should take care of it. Keep it clean until it heals completely. If it does not look better in a day or two, you better see a doc.

clean with peroxide, treat with antibacterial creme (neosporan), bandadge. If it doesn't get better, go to the doctors

chop your leg off with a butcher knife ill do it in your sleep tonight!lol

Clean the wound , apply Ozonol disinfectant cream and bandage. If it is infected you may need to see a doctor and get some anti biotics to fight the infection.
Apply ice pack if swollen.

If the area is swollen and has pus in it, the wound has been infected and will need more treatment than just a bandaid. If there is any loose or dead skin, cut it away with scissors that have been sterilized in alcohol. This will encourage new skin to grow more quickly. Douse the area in rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide (it'll sting like heck but there's no way around it), and make sure it's very clean. Protect it with a bandage of the appropriate size. If it's still swollen after another day, see a doctor.

You might want to go to the doctor instead of asking strangers on Y!A

Make sure it's cleaned out real good. Use peroxide, pour it over the wound a few times, letting it sit for a few seconds in between. Rinse it with warm water after that. Put some anti-biotic ointment on it and cover it with a band aid, do this twice a day for the first few days or so to prevent infection and help it heal quicker. After 3 or 4 days, you can probably leave it open over night to let the air get at it, unless it's deep. Then keep it covered for a week or so. If it's real deep you should see a doctor.
Use ice or an ice pack to help reduce the swelling, 20 minutes on, 20 off. And keep it elevated.
I went to school to be a medical assistant, and was trained in basic first aid. I used to work in a kitchen, and have plenty of experience with cuts. Good luck.

clean the infection w/ alcohol, have someone press to get all of the puss out 'till u bleed a little and clean it again... and just wait a few days, if it doesnt seem to be getting better see a doctor.

First of all, wash it good, then apply triple antibotic, like neosporine and if its not bleeding allow to air out, reapply the noesporine as it drys. The swelling should go down over night keeping the knee elevated. If in the am the swelling did not go down and there is pain, then you must go see a Doctor as it could be more serious as a chip bone.

You need to scrub it clean with peroxide (ouch) and make sure there is no gravel or dirt left in the wound, if there is, it will get infected. Once you've made sure it is clean, put some neosporn on the wound and cover it up. If there is red around it (not from scraping it) watch to make sure it doesn't get larger in diameter. As for the swelling put some ice on it. If the swelling doesn't go down take some IB Profin and that will help with the swelling (and pain).

Sterilize a needle and puncture it to releive the pressure - squeeze out some puss.

Clean the area with peroxide & put Neosporin on it.

Put a band-aid for the time being to let the medicine set in & heal a bit.

Tomorrow you might be able to go without the band aide but I'd leave it on so it won't rub against your pants.

Main thing is keep it free of dirt or germs so you won't get an infection.

Scrapes can be taken care of at home like this - no need to spend time & money on a doc unless you get infections.

1. clean it.
2. triple antibiotic cream
3. bandage it for a bit.
4. let it air out.
5. itching or burning?-hydrocortisone cream/cord-aid

Now if around the wound it appears raised and white, and around that red. continue with the antibiotic cream. if that doesnt go away within 4 days go to the doctor. or if you start seeing blue or green puss. if you get blisters do not pop them- if you do now you need to go to the doctor asap.

eat a piece of chicken and chili and call theadora in the morning

first of all that is puss it means it is infected. you clean it out with rubbing acholol and then then you dry it really well. use neosproine and try that and put little bandage to not scrap on sheets. it should help if it doesn't ans still puss you need to see doctor now.
