How do i care for a broken shell on a turtle even though the wound is not too deep?

p.s. my turtle si a red ear slider and i know you should be taking it to a vet but is there other options

A turtles "shell" is a thin layer of skin over its bones. You need to take it to the vet.

Bondo

I'm sorry but i would go the the vet. I have to red ear sliders and I've had them for 10 years now.

I would not use Super Glue it might infect the turtle.
Call your closest zoo, they should be able to help.

A friend of mine took his kid's broken turtle to the vet and he just mixed up some epoxy putty (called plumbers putty) and patched Mr.Turtle's shell back up good as new. He placed the broken piece back on and put a thin layer of epoxy over it, then sanded it smooth when it hardened. That was almost 3 years ago and he's doing fine. Only problem is that if the as the turtle grows the broken piece will not grow with him so he's probably gonna have to do it again soon.

Sorry for your turtle's bad luck :-(

Google it.
I found some sites that said you can make a patch for him with antibiotic cream...
Most sites said take your turtle to a vet though...
You should go ahead and go to a vet.

i am a red eared slider owner myself and the only way to fix this problem is time. make sure its water/ tank is super clean, give it food if big enougn cricket/ mealworms remove uneaten iteams and well give it calcium sticks that will help re-heal the bones!\

Good luck!!!!!!!

put duct tape on it but only when it is NOT in the water...also...be sure to pretend to be intimidated by it...turtles loose confidence when they have cracked shells

IMO there is no other option aside from seeking vet help

Duct tape or super glue.

ducttape
