How to care for a wound during post operation? |
Specifically, a mother's wound as a result of normal vaginal delivery with episiotomy. sitz baths and keeping it clean and dry (as much is possible). Find a squirt bottle and use warm water with gentle anti-septic wash. After she uses the washroom, have her use the squirt bottle. Keep the area dry and wash with the feminine wash after every "business" done to keep the area away from germs... Try to have bedrest for the first few days....before slowly walking... You'll want to be sure the site stays clean as possible. Do it, or remind her to to change her pad often. The hospital usually gives new mothers a bottle with a long nozzle on the top, that they could fill and use to irrigate the site after urination. I've found that was usually their favorite item. |
