Surgical wound care?

Surgical wound care?

Keep it clean and dry. You can wash it daily with plain old soap and water on a washcloth. BUT don not put it under water by sitting in a pool, bathtub or such. A shower is fine to wash it but then dry promptly and cover with a clean dressing. As long as the staples, stitches are in it is vunderable to infection and sitting in water just adds to the risk. A shower is better, esp if you can avoid the area as much as possible.

what about it?

uhm. just keep it clean i guess.
but dont uncover the covering of it unless your doctor instucts you to

TRAUMA!
you stole my answer. even the word i mispelled was mispelled in your answer too.. wow
does that mean it was a good answer? ahha

Avoid the sun......

depends where it is on your body. keep the area clean, change the dressing often, don't over strech the area to avoid ripping stitches out.
I had surgery on my thumb and wrist after my tendon snapped, I had to massage the scar tissue inorder to break it up so that I would regain the use of my hand after wards.

do what ? ?

just keep it clean i guess.
but dont uncover the covering of it unless your doctor instucts you to
sta out of the water and sun DO NOT mass withit onless the doc tell you to

yes................and your question is what exactly?????????

Keep the area clean and covered. Do not try to remove stitches yourself. Wash your hands often. Do not apply pressure to that area. Avoid getting it wet in the early stages.

Keep clean/dry.
Observe for changes of increased redness, increased pain, increased swelling, increased drainage.

Watch for fever.

Keep your post-op appointments diligently. Call your surgeon with any questions.

ok what about it? I have had 50 surgeries, so if you need help just let me know.
